From 'I don't look upon films like that' to 'I did not come to stand behind anyone,' Abhishek Bachchan finally admits he's not game for second fiddle anymore
On Sunday evening, we saw Abhishek Bachchan and his sister Shweta on Karan Johar's chat show. Expectedly, Karan asked Junior Bachchan about Manmarziyaan, his comeback film after two years. He spoke about how Abhishek got praised for his performance in the Anurag Kashyap film and also questioned him about his sabbatical. Abhishek was rather honest when he said that he was a part of huge films and making good money but did not really enjoy being sidelined in front of the leading star. He said, "I did not come to stand behind anyone. Abhishek further said that he loved making all those films but it was heartbreaking for him to be in the left frame. ).
This is in sharp contrast to what he said at the success party of Housefull 3. A reporter had asked if Abhishek would be seen in solo films from now on and he totally dismissed the questioned. He said that he did not look at films in that manner. Abhishek said that every actor was responsible for the success and failure of a film and the screen-time did not matter to him. "I don't look upon films like that," he says. He further said, "I have never believed in the word solo male lead. Check out the video below to see Abhishek's reaction on if he would continue doing multi-starrers.
We wonder what has brought about a change of heart in the actor. Clearly, the actor has made it clear on Karan's show that he wants more prominence in a film. Everyone will agree that people have not been very kind to Abhishek. There is no doubt that he is a very fine actor who is yet to get his due. Some of his films may have been bad but he has always excelled. Bol Bachchan, Happy New Year, Housefull 3 are prime examples where he almost stole the show from the leading man. Surely, people will think what made Abhishek open up on his actual feelings on Karan's show after maintaining a different stance for so many years. The competition is intense with a whole new crop of talented young people wowing the audience. Every actor will admit that you cannot survive this present scenario being laidback and comfortable about things. Some actors who debuted around the same time have fizzled out but Junior Bachchan is still in demand because he brings a lot to a project.
Definitely, his fans will think that it would have been so much better if he had been honest before and had a more ambitious approach to his career. Anyways, better late than never. Abhishek's candour must be appreciated and we hope this new Junior Bachchan rocks screens once again!.
